Mobility: Belgian students from DE WIJNPERS dive into graphic design

From 4 March to 7 June, two students from DE WIJNPERS in Leuven, Belgium, completed an internship in Foligno. Specialising in graphic design, Evelien and Ena had the opportunity to work with two companies, Python and Plasmedia. There, they applied their creative skills to real-life projects.

Evelien joined Python, a company known for its innovative approach to visual communication. Her placement involved creating a variety of marketing materials, including posters, leaflets, logos, business cards and stickers. Working closely with the Python design team, Evelien honed her skills in layout, typography and colour theory. She was encouraged to inject her personal style into projects while adhering to the company’s brand guidelines.

Ena has been placed at Plasmedia. She focused on designing Instagram layouts, an essential part of modern digital marketing strategies. Ena’s role was to create visually consistent and engaging social media content that aligned with Plasmedia’s brand image. She explored various design tools and techniques to create layouts that captured the attention of online audiences, learning about digital storytelling and audience engagement.

The three-month placement in Foligno offered more than just professional development; they had the chance to immerse themselves in Italian culture, tasting the local cuisine and taking part in cultural festivities. The practical experience and the mentoring they received enabled them to acquire hands-on skills and a better understanding of the graphics industry.
