DIGITAL FABULA: When Creativity Bridges Cultures

From April 7th to 11th, the Centro Studi Città di Foligno came alive with digital creativity and intercultural exchange during the Digital Fabula workshop organized by EGInA. Around 70 students from Hungary and Bulgaria, aged 12 to 14, took part in this exciting week of discovery and animated storytelling!

Led by Bianca Bisiach, the young participants dived into the captivating world of stop motion animation, learning how to tell stories frame by frame. With enthusiasm and imagination, they wrote scripts, created sets, crafted characters and brought their ideas to life on screen.

On Thursday, the group split in two for a deeper cultural experience. The Hungarian group of 20 students and 8 teachers from the “Avastetői Általános Iskola és Alapfokú Művészeti Iskola” school, along with 10 Bulgarian students and 2 teachers from “St. Kliment” school visited the Istituto Comprensivo “Melanzio – Parini” in Montefalco, while the other group of 21 students and 6 teachers from the “A Jövő Iskolája/Future School” in Hungary spent the morning in the school in Castel Rinaldi, a branch of the same institute. Both groups had the chance to interact with local students, experience the Italian school environment, and share moments of connection.
In the afternoon, everyone reunited for a visit to Assisi, discovering together the spiritual and cultural richness of Umbria.

But perhaps the most unforgettable moment came on Friday, during a special intergenerational day! The group of students was joined by 16 Polish adults, aged 50 to 70, from the University of the Third Age of Woźniki, who were in Foligno that same week for a course focused on discovering the region’s cultural heritage. This meeting between generations turned into a truly heartwarming exchange. The young participants proudly showcased the stop motion videos they had created, sparking curiosity and admiration among the older visitors. In return, the Polish seniors shared their reflections and joy in connecting with the vibrant energy of youth.

Digital Fabula was more than just a digital workshop, it was a creative and cultural journey, highlighting the European values of sharing and lifelong learning!
