From 6 April 2023 to 8 May 2023, twelve students from the Sv. Kliment Ohridski in Bulgaria took part in a mobility programme in Assisi. The programme provided practical experience in the culinary and hospitality sectors, focusing on the positions of assistant cook, waiter and bartender.
By living and working in Assisi, the students immersed themselves in the local culture while improving their professional skills. Assistant cooks focused on food preparatio
n and maintaining hygiene in the kitchen, waiters gained experience in customer service and dining room management, and bartenders learned how to mix and serve drinks.
The students had the invaluable experience of working alongside experienced professionals who gave them practical advice and information about the industry. This mentoring enabled them to sharpen their techniques, understand industry standards and receive personalised feedback, greatly enriching their learning experience.
This practical experience was crucial to the development of their real-world capabilities. The programme highlighted the importance of practical training and cultural immersion in preparing students for a successful career in the gastronomy and hospitality sectors.
